Dr. Joyce Ashamalla was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago.  She is the managing partner at Hinsdale Animal Hospital, additionally, she is a partner at CARE Animal Emergency Hospital. She has been with Hinsdale Animal Hospital since 2007. She received her BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois-Champaign Urbana, where she stayed to complete her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2007.

She has a background in toxicology, and as she does enjoy all aspects of medicine, she has a strong interest in orthopedic surgery and internal medicine. She is AO certified, USDA-APHIS accredited and is a member of the CVMA, ISVMA and AVMA.

In her spare time, she enjoys rooting for the Cubs and Bears, traveling and spending time with her husband and three children.
